The Time is Drawing Nigh
We registered Maddie Belle for school last week. And, Gary finally went and retrieved her immunization records from the pediatrician and faxed them in, so it's official. In a few short weeks, my little baby will be going off to "big" school. We have already started the shopping. We went to Old Navy, and I pretty much let her have the run of the place. However, she didn't believe me when I told her that we were in the appropriately-sized section - she thought the baby section was her sized clothes. No, darling, not anymore. You now shop in the "girl" section. It's so true what moms tell you when you're pregnant - "Oh, before you turn around they're in college." "They grow up so fast." "Cherish the times when they're little." Usually, these words of wisdom are spoken to moms who are about to put their babies on the porch with a sign saying "free baby," after enduring a child with unconsolable crying and screaming, or when the pressures of modern society and women trying to "have it all" reaches the boiling point. But they're right - it has gone too fast. It's also interesting that Maddie, at age 5, knows what's fashionable. We pretty much bought out Baby Gap, but I'm sure there is more shopping in store. She didn't like the offerings at Old Navy, because she didn't see any "pretty" clothing. Ha.
