Staying Away From the Crabs
Sometimes it is hard to admit that our parents are always right about things, particularly when they drive us crazy telling us the same stories over and over again -- which are supposed to serve as life lessons. One of my favorite stories is about the crabs, told to me for many years by my dear old Dad. Dad says that when the crab fishermen are out on the ocean, harvesting crabs, they fill open barrels with their catch. However, there is no need for the fishermen to put a "top" on the barrels, because if one of the crabs DARES to climb to the top, and seems like he is going to escape his fate, the other crabs pull him back down to the bottom of the barrel with them. The moral of the story? Stay away from the crabs in your life -- those people who bring you down to the bottom with them.
